Seen in Pop Culture
By the 1980s, Nike sneakers had reached a global scale, having made a huge impact on shoe companies around the world. More specifically making a scene in New York, London, Tokyo, and Paris. It was also in the 80s that shoe cleaning became essential for Nike and other shoe owners alike. This is where terms like, "fresh" and "sneaker head" started being used to describe the industry. Because of this worldwide success, it was about time Nike began collaborating with other companies, athletes, rappers, designers, and Icons of Pop Culture. Some of these collaborations involve, but is not limited to, Freddy Krueger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street", Stewie Griffin from "Family Guy", Health Ledger's Joker from "The Dark Knight", and even Marty McFly from "Back to the Future". Nike has even made shoes in collaboration with companies like Heineken and Fruity Pebbles. Needless to say, Nike had reached a level of popularity beyond many other shoe companies at the time.
